Quick update

Just a quickie update here. Mary's surgery went well. The doctor said everything came out okay, and he didn't find anything unexpected. As planned, he removed her uterus, ovaries, tubes, and cervix. She's in pain, but that's to be expected and they have her drugged up to the eyeballs for it. Barring any unforseen circumstances, she should be discharged sometime Friday afternoon. I'm going to be heading back to the hospital here shortly, and plan on spending the night. I'll probably update again sometime tomorrow or Friday. Keep us all in your thoughts/prayers/etc.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but it took Mary 5 months to get there. She's been dealing with pretty severe abdominal pain since the beginning of August. After dealing with 2 VA hospitals, one Army hospital, a herd of doctors, and an assload of tests, she finally gave up and went to the gyno who did my hysto. She took all of her progress notes on the situation since it began, and he took one look and said "Yup, you're getting surgery." Bear in mind, since August she's had 3 or 4 ultrasounds, 2 or 3 abdominal CT scans, 2 or 3 sets of abdominal X-rays, somewhere around a dozen or more pelvic exams, enough blood tests to make Dracula feel dehydrated, and a few other things I can't think of right now.

The good news in all of that is, if you're not dealing with government doctors, chances are you shouldn't have to have the same tests repeated until you're blue in the face. Which isn't to say you won't.

Good luck getting to the end of the road. Just remember to push the pain and quality of life issues. That alone is usually enough to force the bastards into some kind of action.
