Random movie ramblings
Jun. 3rd, 2005 05:09 amI swear, On Demand is going to be the death of me! Too many movies! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Now playing: The Day After Tomorrow. Actually not a bad movie, if you bypass the ridiculous timeline and maudlin gratuitous romance bits. In a way, it reminds me of Dante's Peak. The science in both is actually fairly accurate, but the timelines are speeded waaaaaaaaaay up. There is something satisfying about watching tornadoes tear Hollywood limb from limb, even if they are obviously CGI.
It kind of makes you think about what in civilization you'd miss the most. Which of the modern conveniences we all take for granted would be the hardest to do without. It's hard to pick out just a few.
Or perhaps I'm overanalyzing your basic big-budget blockbuster.
