Life's funny...

dr_trannyWhat a wonderful way to start a day. 5:30 this fucking morning, while watching the news, I hear that my partner's cousin's 17-year-old soon-to-be-ex stepson has been shot and killed. I never really knew him much. He was one of those kids who, the split second puberty hit, started trying to assert his independence, and had some nasty attitude problems. He had a few problems with the law too, stuff like shoplifting and selling drugs, but in retrospect he was actually a pretty decent kid. Alot of his problems were due to his mother's mental instability, and the fact that his mother and father didn't get along at all. Nobody knows who killed him, or why, but they're saying it probably wasn't a random act. The guys who shot him busted into a party, shot him with a shotgun, and left in his stolen truck. Sounds like they were targetting him to me too.
This whole situation has served to instill in me a deep sense of regret. Regret for not telling those closest to me how very much they mean to me. Regret for not realizing sooner how precious is life, and those with whom we share it.
To anyone who might actually read this (seems like nobody reads my posts anyway), do not let another second go by without telling the people in your life how much you love them. You might not have that many seconds left.
